The Benefits of Solar

Solar solutions to control your energy costs.

There are a number of benefits of solar power:

💡 Probably the most significant is that you no longer are forced to pay that increasing electric bill. Solar can produce 70% or more of the power you need for daily life.

💡 Current government subsidisation will often save you nearly 20% off the price of the solar equipment and installation.

💡 Installing a solar panel system will increase the value of your property.

💡 Save the environment by reducing your carbon footprint.

Net Metering

By having a net-meter, the consumer can benefit from the generated power out of his Photovoltaic System to reduce his electricity bill. The net meter may export the excess of the generated power to the electricity grid and use it later instead of importing power from the authority. In case the consumption exceeds the production, then the consumer will be billed the difference, while the production exceeds the consumption, the surplus will be transferred to be used in the following billing period not exceeding the period of February March, where the surplus will expire.

In the case of the residential, the consumer is allowed to install up to 10KW.

With the current government subsidization, the consumer can benefit from an amount of €300 per kWp with a maximum fund of €1,000 (conditions may apply).

How it Works

All the residents have the right to install the Photovoltaic System (PV) on their residential or commercial premises following the authorities terms and regulations.

in the case where the suggested installation place is on a common area (example  the case of building rooftop), then all owners in the same building must declare that they agree for the installation at the premises.

The required area for the PV installation varies between 25sqm and 80sqm, depending on the KWp needed.

The Net Metering system is installed and produces electricity which is fed to the grid via a smart meter installed by the EAC. The meter calculates the yield of the electricity that a home exports and the consumption of electricity imported from EAC. The system calculates the net amount to be paid to the EAC every month or every two months.

The energy produced in Cyprus from 1 kW PV system is estimated at 1600 kWh per year.

The lifetime of a PV system is far longer than 20 years. The PV modules have up to 25 years for performance warranty. The PV inverters have a 5-year warranty that can be extended to 10 – 20 years. The mounting systems have a 20-year warranty. All the electrical equipment used also has warrantees.

Process to apply for PV System:

The customer is asked to provide the required documents related to the application, then we undertake all the rest of the procedure. The applications are submitted to EAC. Upon the submission of the application, applicants will pay the required fee of €200 + VAT for the application and €50 + VAT for the inspection, which reflects the cost of handling the application by EAC, the cost of the meter, the cost of the inspection and the connection to the grid. If the application is rejected, €200 + VAT is refunded.

Upon receipt of the approval from EAC, the net-metering contract is signed on the spot. The applicants will have to complete the installation, the inspection and the connection of the PV system within 3 months of obtaining the approval from EAC.
